Mariton: Blue-stemmed Goldenrod
by Tim Burris, Preserve Manager
The Blue-stemmed Goldenrod (Solidago caesia) is blooming now at Mariton. I think of this wildflower as the precursor of trees changing colors. It brightens the edges of our trails as the light starts penetrating the forest in autumn The graceful arcs, and the blossoms in the axils of the leaves give this plant a very graceful appearance. The blossoms also tend to be bright yellow which is very eye catching.
