Volunteer – Garlic Mustard Madness

Saunders Woods Preserve | Sat, April 28, 2018, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Join Natural Lands staff and volunteers in removing garlic mustard, which is easy to spot and rewarding to pull. This invasive plant prevents native ones from growing, and thwarts our efforts to create healthy habitats. Feel free to take some greens home for yourself—not to plant, but to make delicious pesto! (We’ll share our favorite recipe.)

Volunteering with Natural Lands is a great way to learn about habitats and wildlife, while helping care for natural resources and connecting with like-minded people. Grab gloves, and come out to volunteer with us!

Saunders Woods Preserve is a natural oasis for wildlife and community residents in the heart of the Main Line. The Bridlewild Trail passes through the preserve and connects to a wider system of paths that wind through the community. A walk here reveals a lively forest habitat as well as an open meadow that is home to a variety of bird species.

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes.

Wear long pants and long sleeved shirts—poison ivy and brambles may be present.

Ticks and bugs are possible; bug spray recommended.

Please leave four-legged friends at home.

  • Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain and get dirty. All tools, gloves, and water will be provided.

No experience necessary; instruction will be provided. Suitable for ages 12+.

Volunteers contribute valuable time and talents to Natural Lands – thank you for your hard-working efforts.
