Volunteer – Gardening and Mulching Party
ChesLen Preserve | Thu, May 24, 2018, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Calling all volunteers for a gardening and mulching party at ChesLen Preserve! Join Natural Lands staff and volunteers in tending garden beds, sprucing-up public areas, mulching, and more. Stay for a light lunch provided to all volunteers!
Volunteering with Natural Lands is a great way to learn about habitats and wildlife, while helping care for natural resources and connecting with like-minded people. Grab gloves, don sturdy boots, and come out to volunteer with us!
ChesLen Preserve is the largest privately owned nature preserve open to the public in Chester County. Miles of marked hiking trails lead visitors through shady woodlands, flower-filled meadows, fields of corn and soybeans, and stream valleys.
Visitors can also explore Ollie Owl’s NaturePlayGround, where young explorers can climb logs, build stick tee-pees, hunt for bugs, explore small streams, and get a little dirty, tired, and inspired. Free play is encouraged and is a great way for kids to gain an appreciation for nature.
Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes.
Wear long pants and long sleeved shirts—poison ivy and brambles may be present.
Ticks and bugs are possible; bug spray recommended.
Please leave four-legged friends at home.
- Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain and get dirty.
- Grab your own gloves, or borrow from us. Tools provided.
- Bring a filled water bottle. Water fountains available, too.
- No experience necessary; instruction will be provided. Suitable for ages 12+.
Volunteers contribute valuable time and talents to Natural Lands – thanks for your hard-working efforts!
