Volunteer – Fences and Trails
Bryn Coed Preserve | Sat, October 12, 2019, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Stunning vistas, nesting Bald Eagles, and a state champion oak tree make our new 520-acre Bryn Coed Preserve a much beloved green space in Chester County! Natural Lands has constructed miles of trails for visitors to enjoy, but much work remains for volunteers to lend a helping hand.
Grab gloves and join us to take down rusty fences and build up community! Wear sturdy boots and prepare for rough, muddy conditions. Bring wire-cutters and long-handled lopers if you have them.
Volunteering with Natural Lands is a great way to learn more about the natural world, give your time to a great cause, and connect with like-minded people.
Restrooms are not available on-site, please plan accordingly.
In 2017, Natural Lands acquired a 1,505-acre mosaic of forest and farmland known as Bryn Coed—which means “wooded hill” in Welsh. In doing so, we saved one of the largest remaining unprotected swaths of land in the greater Philadelphia region from becoming a housing development.
The preserve includes a Pennsylvania Champion white oak, the headwaters of the Pickering Creek, and several Bald Eagle nesting spots. Miles of hiking trails meander past 19th century stone farmhouses, historical ruins, and other remnants of the land’s agricultural past.
Please note: a portion of the trails traverse private property. Please respect the owners’ privacy and stay on the trails.
- Dress for the season and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes
