Virtual Event |
June 30, 2021 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Natural Lands celebrates healthy minds, bodies, and communities, so we’re inviting participants to walk, hike, run, roll and stroll this June during our second annual Trek-a-Thon.
It’s been a challenging time, but we’re getting through it together, so grab your friends, family, and coworkers, and get outside for some fresh-air fun and fitness.
Register for free.
Hike, walk, or run at our nature preserves, in your own neighborhood, or on your treadmill.
Log your miles and submit them to us online.
Go the extra mile. Set a fundraising goal and ask friends and family to sponsor your trek.
Trek-a-thon runs from
June 1 through June 30, 2021.
Register for free, and help us reach our 15,000 mile goal.
how does it work?
Register yourself or your team here.
Teams are twice the fun! Create a team with your friends, family, and co-workers.
Teams can be 2 to 25 people. Have more than 25? Create multiple teams for some friendly competition.
If you’re collecting pledges:
Estimate the number of miles you will walk, hike, or jog in a month and include that number on your fundraising page (available when you register) or pledge form so that your sponsors have an idea of how much they will be donating.
Set a fundraising goal. We suggest a minimum goal of $250. That’s only 10 people sponsoring you $1 per mile for 25 miles (only 6.25 miles per week!).
Create your own fundraising page in our system where you can share your story and collect pledges.
Tell your friends, family, and co-workers why you support Natural Lands’ mission to save open space, care for nature, and connect people to the outdoors, and why they should sponsor you. Ask for pledges—they can be any amount per mile or a flat donation.
Don’t forget to ask your co-workers…and the boss!
Create a company team to maximize the fun.
Ask your employer to match your donation or pledge your team’s miles.
Log your miles from June 1 to June 30.
You may use any tracking app you would like. Don’t have a tracking app? There are lots of free tracking apps that you can download onto your smart phone including Strava, Apple Health, Google Health, Steps App, and Map My Walk.
If unable to track your mileage using an app, you may estimate, but please be as accurate as possible.
Mileage is on the honor system.
Share your trekking experience on social media.

where to trek?
We hope you’ll explore Natural Lands’ properties but you’re welcome to hike, walk, or run any trail. No trails near you? No worries! You may still participate by walking or jogging wherever you’re able.
Heading out to a Natural Lands’ preserve? Please check for preserve updates including regularly scheduled closures at natlands.org/R&R.
Also, don’t forget to download the Natural Lands’ app before you go!
Events may be cancelled due to inclement weather or low registration. In that case, we will make every effort to update our website and contact registrants. Note that we cannot offer refunds of paid registrations or ticket purchases, but rest assured that your donation will help us in our work to save open space, care for nature, and connect people to the outdoors.

I fully understand that: (a) the Program and related Activities involve risks and dangers of damage to personal property and serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis, and death (“risks”); (b) these Risks and dangers may be caused by my and/or the Minor’s own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the Activity, the condition in which the Activity takes place, or the negligence of the “releasees” as aforementioned; (c) there may be other risks and social and economic losses either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses, costs, and damages I and/or the minor incur as a result of my participation or that of the Minor in the Activity.
I hereby release, discharge, and covenant not to sue Natural Lands or any of their “releasees” from all liability, claims, demands, losses, injuries, damage to property, or other damages on my and/or the minor’s account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the “releasees” or otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this release and waiver of liability, assumption of risk, and indemnity agreement I, the Minor, or anyone on the Minor’s behalf makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I will indemnify, save, and hold harmless each of the releasees from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage, or cost which any may incur as the result of such claim.
I have read this Agreement, fully understand its terms, understand that I have given up substantial rights by registering for this event, and have done so freely and without any inducement or assurance of any nature and intend it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law and agree that if any portion of this agreement is held to be invalid, the balance, notwithstanding, shall continue in full force and effect.
