Stroll About: A Public Opening

Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden | Sun, May 13, 2018, 10:00am - 5:00pm

After two years of planning, planting, and preparation, Natural Lands’ Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden opens its gates to the public!

During this “Stroll About” – a longtime tradition of the Haas family, who donated the property to Natural Lands – guests can explore winding garden paths, absorb the beauty of spring, and be among the very first to enjoy Philadelphia’s newest public garden.

Members-Only Mother’s Day Tea:
Treat your wife, mother, or grandmother to an elegant Afternoon Tea in the Main House (not open to the general public)—prepared and served by the award-winning Birchtree Catering. Learn more about the timed seatings and reserve your table.  If you’re not already a member, you can join when you register for the tea.

The Stroll About event is free and open to all, but pre-registration is required for timed entries. Please review parking information, under “Before You Go.”

10:00am - 5:00pm

For nearly 80 years, Stoneleigh was the home of the Haas family, which donated the property to Natural Lands in 2016 so that it would remain preserved forever.

The property includes stately trees, winding pathways, and lush gardens that were designed by a number of notable landscape architects over the past century—including the Olmsted Brothers, sons of the famed Frederick Law Olmsted.

Parking for the Stroll About and Mother’s Day Tea events is available only at a nearby Villanova University parking garage. Park and walk one block east on Spring Mill Road, to the intersection with County Line Road. Cross as directed, and enter through the corner gate. The SEPTA Villanova Train Station is a short walk to/from Stoneleigh.

The Stoneleigh parking lot, located at 1829 County Line Road, will be open for handicapped parking only during this special event.
