City Nature Challenge
Saunders Woods Preserve |
April 28, 2023 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Natural Lands is excited to be part of the 2023 City Nature Challenge. This community initiative encourages everyone to connect with nature using iNaturalist. The Challenge is free, easy, and open to all. Simply look for nature (it’s everywhere!), take photos noting the location, and submit observations to iNaturalist.org. The smartphone or desktop app is free to download. Don’t worry if you don’t know the name of the plant or animal species you photograph; iNaturalist suggests identifications and peer reviewers double-check sightings.
Philadelphia City Nature Challenge runs Friday, April 28, through Monday, May 1, 2023, in Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties in PA, as well as Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties in NJ.
Explore your local patch anytime during the four-day window or join Natural Lands on April 28 at Saunders Woods Preserve where Natural Lands’ Preserve 21st Century Fellow Ayla Moulder-Tyler will share her wealth of knowledge about nature and iNaturalist during a discovery walk around the property.
Saunders Woods Preserve is a natural oasis for wildlife and community residents in the heart of the Main Line. The Bridlewild Trail passes through the preserve and connects to a wider system of paths that wind through the community. A walk here reveals a lively forest habitat as well as an open meadow that is home to a variety of bird species.
- Meet by the red Natural Lands kiosk next to the main parking lot.
- Be prepared to walk a few miles on uneven terrain.
- Remember binoculars or cameras to capture beautiful photos.

- Restrooms will be open during this event.
Help us all stay safe:
