Sunday Morning Kayak Trip
Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary | Sun, May 19, 2019, 8:30am - 12:00pm
Once an old sand quarry, the 90-acre Giving Pond has been transformed into a natural habitat, attracting ducks, cormorants, herons, and other waterfowl; sightings of eagles and ospreys are not uncommon. Turtles are abundant, basking on the numerous fallen logs in quiet coves. Enjoy the morning exploring this unique habitat.
Natural Lands staff member Tim Burris, preserve manager of Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary, will guide the trip and highlight interesting finds along the way. Kayaks and all equipment provided.
Mariton is perched on the steep slopes of Bougher Hill overlooking the scenic Delaware River. A highlight of the preserve’s trail system is the River Lookout Trail, with an overlook of both the Delaware Canal and the Delaware River 300 feet below.
Mariton’s Nature Center includes a library, meeting space, and ADA restrooms, and is open by prior arrangement.
Kayaks and all equipment provided.
Registration is limited. Please call Preserve Manager Tim Burris at 610-258-6574 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
