Hawks Across Open Skies

Rose Tree Park | Wed, September 18, 2019, 1:00pm - 3:00pm

On-line registration is closed. Walk-ins are welcome.

Each fall, thousands of hawks, falcons, and eagles move across our region in a spectacle of soaring migration. After spending the spring and summer raising their young, the raptors heed their instincts to fly south for the winter, stopping only to eat and rest along the way.

Natural Lands partners with Birding Club of Delaware County to highlight raptors in flight at Rose Tree Park. The park’s wide-open landscape provides ideal vantage for viewing and sharing the citizen science experience with others.

Rose Tree Park, an official HawkWatch location since 1999, is an ideal spot to watch raptors soar across the open skies of Delaware County. Situated between the Delaware River and Springton Lake Reservoir, Rose Tree Park provides important food and water resources for migrating birds.

  • Meet Natural Lands staff member Debbie Beer at the gazebo in Rose Tree Park.
  • Knowledgeable volunteers and staff will share a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, guide books, and scopes.
  • Bring binoculars if you have them; a few will be available to borrow.

Event is free. Online-registration is closed. Walk-ins are welcome.

Events may be cancelled due to inclement weather or low registration. In that case, we will make every effort to update our website and contact registrants.
