Crow’s Nest Preserve
201 Piersol Road, Elverson, PA 19520
Join us for lively contra and square dancing in our rustic, restored barn with caller Sue Gola and the musical group Gooseberries. Birdsboro Contra Dance partners with Natural Lands Trust for a fun evening of dancing and socializing!
Contra dancing draws from square, round, Scottish and English country, Appalachian, and European dances of the 1800s, but modern folks from all heritages participate in the swirling fun. Natural Lands Trust’s Crow’s Nest Preserve provides inspiring setting to enjoy this spirited form of American folk dancing. Encompassing 621 acres of woodlands, meadow, and crop fields along the French Creek, Crow’s Nest offers hiking, birding, and educational activities for the local community and beyond.
Whether you’re a seasoned stepper or hearing “do-si-do” for the first time, all dancers are welcome. No special skills are necessary and no partner is needed. If you can walk, you can dance! Be willing to learn, smile, and ask questions.
Begin the evening by joining the Birdsboro Contra Dance potluck dinner from 6:00 – 7:00 pm; please bring a dish to share. Beginners are welcome to arrive at 7:00 for instructions, the dancing starts at 7:30. Wear soft-soled shoes and comfortable clothing. Please bring a snack item to share at the break, or contribute money to the snack fund.
No pre-registration required. Admission is $9 at the door. Discounts for students and seniors.
