Butterfly Walk

Join us for butterfly walks led by Tim Burris, preserve manager at Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary, every Tuesday morning, June 6 – June 27.

About two dozen species may be seen, including a variety of fritillaries, hairstreaks, duskywings, swallowtails, satyrs, skippers, whites, and yellows. As the summer progresses and different flowers bloom, the variety of butterflies changes.

Mariton is perched on the steep slopes of Bougher Hill overlooking the scenic Delaware River. A highlight of the preserve’s trail system is the River Lookout Trail, with an overlook of both the Delaware Canal and the Delaware River 300 feet below.

Mariton’s Nature Center includes a library, meeting space, and ADA restrooms, and is open by prior arrangement.

No experience necessary. Dress for the season and wear sturdy shoes. Bring water bottle and binoculars. Be prepared to walk several miles at a slow pace on uneven terrain. Please leave your four legged friends at home.

Event is free. Registration required. Please complete and submit the secure, on-line registration form below to let us know you are coming, or call 610-353-5587 ext. 221.

Cancellation:
Events may be cancelled due to inclement weather or low registration. In that case, we will make every effort to update our website and contact registrants. Note that we cannot offer refunds of paid registrations or ticket purchases, but rest assured that your donation will help us in our work to save open space, care for nature, and connect people to the outdoors.
