8:00 – 10:00 am
Event attendees: Use the private entrance at 449 Lucky Hill Road, West Chester, PA (not the public lot on Creek Road).
Bubbling melodies and fluttery displays make Bobolinks some of the most intriguing preserve residents! Join us for a light brunch with a view of the meadows, and watch the birds display above swaying grasses. Naturalist Jim McVoy has studied Bobolinks for years and will share his knowledge of their remarkable behaviors.
Natural Lands Trust’s 571-acre Stroud Preserve is one of few remaining Bobolink breeding sites in our region. Expansive fields provide critically important habitat for this and other grassland birds that are declining at a rapid rate due to habitat loss. Jim will guide an optional bird walk after brunch, to look for orioles, buntings, kingbirds, and other species that nest on the preserve.
Event is rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, we’ll enjoy brunch inside the rustic barn. Dress for the season and wear sturdy shoes. Bring your own binoculars. Please leave your four-legged friends at home.
Note Directions and Parking: Event attendees should use the private entrance to Stroud Preserve at 449 Lucky Hill Road, West Chester. Drive down the 1-mile dirt road, staying left at all forks, and follow signs for parking up behind the barn.
