Big Tree Tour
Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden | Sat, August 04, 2018, 10:00am - 12:00pm
From whispering hemlocks to weeping katsura, Stoneleigh: a natural garden boasts a trove of treasured trees. In fact, Stoneleigh is home to 10 trees that are among the 10 largest of their respective species in the state, including one state champion. Join Natural Lands staff on a walking tour to learn about the history and horticulture of the garden’s big trees.
For nearly 80 years, Stoneleigh was the home of the Haas family, which donated the property to Natural Lands in 2016 so that it would remain preserved forever.
The property includes stately trees, winding pathways, and lush gardens that were designed by a number of notable landscape architects over the past century—including the Olmsted Brothers, sons of the famed Frederick Law Olmsted.
