Crow’s Nest Tiny Library!
By Daniel Barringer, Preserve Manager.
We’re so excited to announce that there is now a tiny library at Crow’s Nest which you may discover by chance or intent while hiking our trails. Follow the Creek Trail and turn down the field edge as this yellow-marked trail leads toward the Chief’s Grove, but stay on the same side of the spring ditch a little further and there it is! It is located just beyond where the yellow trail crosses a small footbridge and where the gray (“other trail”) leads along the side of farm field toward the Manager’s residence on our new map (see previous weblog post). Feel free to follow that trail out to Piersol Road to make a short loop around the preserve.
Durably and beautifully built by Force of Nature volunteer Jim Moffett, the library features books of interest in conservation, farming, hiking, and nature education for kids. Feel free to borrow a book and return it either to this library or any other Little Free Library.
I’ve registered this library with the Little Free Library website so it shows up on their map of Little Free Libraries. There’s even a leash hook for your dog so both hands can be free while browsing. Coming soon: a bench or comfortable chairs nearby on which to sit while reading.
