Crow’s Nest: Contra Dance returns!
By Daniel Barringer, Preserve Manager.
After a five year hiatus (wow, pause to think about that!) the local Birdsboro Contra Dance returns to the Crow’s Nest Preserve barn, this Saturday, June 1. Dancing begins at 7:30 pm with basics of contra dance review (I think I’ll need that) at 7:10.
Sue Gola will be the caller to music from The Orphans; Ben Kennedy – piano, Peter Buchack – button accordion, and Miranda Weinberg – fiddle.
Admission is cash at the door, sliding scale fee: $10 to $20+, $15 recommended. Under 12 years old free.
Partners are not required and newcomers are encouraged. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a snack to share during the break, or bring a BYO snack for yourself. Bring your own water to drink.
Bonus: arrive early for a 5 pm hike at the preserve with Force of Nature volunteer Jamey Hutchinson and a 6 pm BYO picnic in the preserve barnyard garden before the dance.
It’s been more than 20 years since we first held a contra dance in the barn and all agree that the space is fun for a dance. Hope to see you here!
