The 13-acre Stone Hills Preserve is a wooded, rocky ridge-top that is part of one of the largest contiguous woodlands in Montgomery County. The property was donated to Natural Lands Trust in 1993 by Frank Hartmaier. Mr. Hartmaier had grown up on the land, built a home, and raised a family there. The preserve was donated in honor of his wife, Elizabeth.
