Since our founding, Natural Lands Trust has been committed to owning land whenever possible. The reason is simple: If we own it, we can be confident that the land is preserved and well cared for… forever.
Today, Natural Lands Trust owns and manages 41 nature preserves spanning over 21,000 acres in 13 counties and two states. It is the largest collection of privately-owned preserved lands in the region.
Enjoy a Visit
Our preserves offer countless opportunities to enjoy nature: hiking in deep forests, tracking down elusive bird species, kayaking in tidal marshes teeming with wildlife, or just taking in pastoral views.
Seventeen of the 41 are readily accessible for public enjoyment. They are open sunrise to sunset and admission is always free. (Find one near you.)
The remainder of our preserves are generally accessible by permission or during member outings. This limited visitation is due to the ecologically sensitive nature of the properties or because of limited facilities.
